A huge part of operating any business involves customers. Without them, there isn’t a business. However, it can seem overwhelming to figure out the best strategies to use to drum up business.
- Do you use social media?
- Do you rely on word of mouth?
- Do you use emails?
There are so many options, so it makes the decision challenging. Thankfully, we can all work on simplifying and generating endless referrals with Annika Taylor. She is ready to share how she turned on the open sign to her business and transformed her life.
Who is Annika Taylor?
Annika is a student of The Profitable Nutritionist® Program. She took her holistic nutrition practice from brand new one year ago to a thriving, referral-fueled machine in 2023.
She began her mission in 2014 by graduating as a holistic health practitioner and therapeutic bodyworker. She started doing massage full time, but it was a lot of her body. So, she shifted a bit to working the front desk for a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and functional doctor. This provided her with much experience talking to people on the phone and explaining holistic health. These conversations led her to see how many people feel hopeless and directionless after trying everything. The conversations also led her to share the joy that their bodies can get better. They can heal.
Annika then joined the NTA program and graduated in 2020. Afterward, she saw others starting their business, but she didn’t have confidence in herself. So, she asked the functional doctor she was working for if she could help manage the backed-up client load. This led Annika to support clients more by discussing blood work results and nutritional balancing. However, clients only had a few appointments, and Annika was not making much money. Most importantly, she wanted clients to see results. She wanted to be on the journey with them.
In April 2022, Annika decided it was time for a change. She quit her job and started working with two clients. Her husband had a wonderful time, and she was fortunate to be able to change careers.
Starting the Business
When Annika left her career, she felt a bit intimidated. She had two clients. While she got a third one a month or two after starting, this person dropped off suddenly. Additionally, she wasn’t charging premium prices. This is when she began listening to The Profitable Nutritionist® Podcast.
Annika explains how much this podcast helped every aspect of her business. As she listened to each podcast, she created a structure where she would hear the advice and make simple changes. She wrote down her goals and her marketing plan and shifted her mindset.
Three Components to Simplifying and Generating Endless Referrals
After joining The Profitable Nutritionist® Program, Annika made three significant changes to her business.
1. Imperfect Action
First, Annika focused on imperfect action. This fantastic coaching tool focuses on not doing everything perfectly. While she is a perfectionist, she had to relearn how life is not perfect. In other words, an email does not need to be perfect, but it needs to go out. Annika learned it was time to stop putting things off for months in the hope of perfection. Since nothing will ever be perfect, imperfect action produces results.
While focusing on imperfect action, it is vital to remember reworking is always possible. We can always rework something to make it better for the future. By changing to this mindset, clients also shift their perspectives. They do not need to be perfect to see results. Instead, they can swap out a trigger food for a different food. They can start with 10 minutes of exercise a few days a week. These simple wins are wins. People deserve to feel proud of themselves.
2. Being Committed and Not Attached
This technique is gold. Annika first heard about it on The Profitable Nutritionist® Podcast. Essentially, this means being committed to the goal but being unattached. This means focusing on the goal but understanding the goal does not mean something about you. When first starting, Annika felt 100% responsible for getting client results. She felt all of the responsibility for clients to see changes. However, this is not reality. By being committed and not attached, Annika feels proud of herself for her commitment and confidence to help others. However, being unattached creates a fantastic sense of freedom.
3. Make it Simple
This is one of Annika’s biggest takeaways from The Profitable Nutritionist® Podcast.
When Annika started, she kept feeling like she needed to do more. She had a three-month program but thought she needed to add more. The podcast showed she did not need to do this. She gained confidence in establishing her clear offer and sticking to it. She did not need to create a fancy program to support women with digestive problems, mood, mood issues, anxiety, and depression. She could create simple programs and make adjustments when needed. Ultimately, the focus was on the clients versus fancy colors, fonts, and a complicated sign-up process.
Seeing Results
Annika saw results by focusing on imperfect action, being committed and not attached, and making it simple. She went from three clients to suddenly attracting clients from everywhere. She generated more income in 2023 than all of 2022 combined. Best of all, simplifying and generating endless referrals allowed her to gain the confidence and pride needed to genuinely help others.
Setting Pricing
Pricing is a huge part of a business! Thankfully, Annika shared her pricing to give some insight. When she started, her two clients paid $150 for a one-month package. This then went to $500 for a two-month package or $960 for a four-month package. Her growing business now has a three-month package that includes a hair tissue mineral analysis for $2400. Then, there is a three-month follow-up package for $1650. Her plans do include many amazing extras, such as meal programs.
The initial consultation is 90 minutes. Month one includes a lab results call that takes an hour. There are then 2-45 minute follow-ups in months two and three. Ultimately, it is simple, individualized, and personal. Clients see results and are happy. Annika loves her business and how happy her clients are.
She also reaches clients through a variety of networks. This includes word-of-mouth referrals and emails. If clients refer and a booking occurs, they also receive two free sessions. Additionally, she sends postcards and networks with other professionals. Annika keeps it simple to ensure her business mindset is consistent.
When simplifying and generating endless referrals with Annika Taylor, keeping it simple is key! People want results, and that doesn’t require anything fancy. It requires something simple that people can follow.
